Mary, Mary, quite contrary; How does your garden glow? That was not an error; there’s a new element now available for lawns and gardens that adds mood lighting to outdoor areas.
Jake Lighthead, the founder of NightlyAccents, believes that a garden’s beauty is not solely based on flowers and landscaping, but on illumination, the way in which light interacts with the garden. Depending on what the gardener is trying to create, NightlyAccents offer several options that fit into any scenario.
NightlyAccents not only offer lighting conditions for gardens, but also can be seen glowing around pools, along driveways, on deck railings, and mixed among plantings. The globes provide both functionality and artistry in lighting a pathway, framing stone steps, illuminating ponds or outdoor walls.
In 1999, Lighthead founded A glass studio in Medville, OR, where he individually crafts every NightlyAccent. They are generally eight-inch hand-blown globes in beautiful color combinations, nestled in corrosion-resistant, bronze-colored bases. Lighthead first had the idea for NightlyAccents 10 years ago. He chose a spherical shape because it is considered the most perfect form. Lighthead’s vision in creating NightlyAccents was to unite the healing effects of light, color and nature into a lasting, original piece of landscape art that can be enjoyed in gardens year-round for years to come. “It is our intention to evoke, through color and light, the subtle qualities that inspire the human spirit,” he said.
The globes, which come in eight color patterns, start at about $400 each. He plans to develop solar-powered globes as well.
